Oh, The Mill. Who would have guessed that two dudes trying to finance their bike shop would create such a gem? Although The Mill Coffee & Tea has four locations, we decided to focus on the Haymarket location because it's walking distance from campus. This gourmet-quality coffee and tea shop has something for everyone. For over 24 years, The Mill's top-shelf baristas have served the caffeine needs of stressed out college students.

GPA: 3.57

Nap-ability: C

Unless you don’t mind premature back pain, The Mill is not the ideal place to nap. You probably wouldn’t be able to fall asleep on the hardwood chairs anyways, unless you’re a sleep-deprived zombie. The tables are small, so there isn't much headspace either. If you get lucky, you might be able to catch some Z's in one of the two couches located in the back of The Mill. Before you pack your bags and settle there, we suggest investing in earplugs. The couches are right in front of the restrooms and we would hate it if your beauty sleep got interrupted by the constant slamming of the doors, flushing or something else.

Outlets: A-

Are you the type of person who somehow leaves the house with a dead laptop or cell phone every day? If so, you’re in luck! The Mill is equipped with tons of outlets. No matter where you sit inside, you’re sure to find an outlet nearby. The problem is outside. If you rather enjoy your cup o’ joe and study outside on the patio, make sure to charge your devices beforehand!

Caffeine Boost: A

Ah yes, caffeine, the old standby. Grab an old-fashioned cup o’ joe from The Mill and it’s guaranteed fresh. All coffee at The Mill is roasted fresh, in-house. Coffee isn’t your cup of tea? Don’t worry, The Mill stocks over 60 loose teas, just for you!

Ambiance: A-

Sometimes the right amount of chatter is needed. The Mill is the perfect place to study. Not too quiet, not too loud. Ditch the solitary confinement desk that’s driving you nuts! Did I mention how easy it is to hack The Mill's aux? Shhhhh... don't tell anyone! If you do decide to be a rebel, make sure to only play good music you can vibe to. We don't want anyone's ears to bleed.

Accessibility: A

A 15-minute walk, or a five-minute bike ride. You decide! Although The Mill has four locations spread throughout Lincoln, the Haymarket location is just minutes away from campus. It’s a convenient location to hit the books! We weren’t always night owls, until college. The college lifestyle forced us. The Mill understands this, that’s why it’s doors remain open later than most coffee shops. Swing by The Mill on a Friday or Saturday night, doors are open until midnight. During the week, drop in before 11 p.m. to satisfy all your caffeine needs.

Productivity: A

For many students, exam season means settling into the library for days. Might as well move in, right? But sometimes studying off campus is needed. After all, psychologists find that changing study locations every so often can actually help improve information retention. So grab your books and pens and head to The Mill!
